Can you apply to CUNY (City University of New York) if you don't live there? I would like to apply there as a safety because I can't bear the thought of not go to college in NYC (if I get rejected by NYU and Columbia)

yes but they don't have dorms so you'll have to find housing on your own..

I applied to Fashion Institute of Technology, isn't that part of CUNY? They have dorms, but it's true that they don't have dorms for most all of them,

andovergirl, have you looked at Barnard?

Thanx Kit416, I'm looking at it right now. I looked at the CUNY website on the med school section (I'm intrested in anesthesiology) and was very disappointed to see that one of the application requirements was to be a "New York resident..." I wonder if there is any way around this. That's pretty strange because the other CUNY schools don't say anything about being a resident. This was only true for City College of Manhattan so far. (I haven't checked the other 16 sites)

andovergirl, what about Fordham? Or Yeshiva?

Unless you are an Orthodox Jew, you won't be happy at Yeshiva. The men's & women's ( Stern College ) divisions are separate & both require religious studies classes regardless of major. The academics are top notch & graduates go on to competitive grad schools. but it isn't the school for everyone.
