Can you attach a resume for Columbia?

Well, the title says it all folks.

I've been reading through the application instructions--and I have talked to current students--and apparently the "please refrain from citing additional _____ in the extra materials section" has never been on the application before.

I'm curious as to whether or not it would be a smart choice to make a resume and attach it to the electronic application...since nowhere does it every say you should/shouldn't.

Who is? And, well, who isn't?

Generally speaking, you should follow instructions. The adcoms have a reason for not wanting additional info.

And do a search on this forum, this question has been asked many times before.

Yes, but I’m asking for Columbia specifically…because it is not part of the common application.

This question–for Columbia–has not been covered previously.

My question is still specific–the adcoms do not want additional citations of awards, etc. But that doesn’t necessarily mean don’t include a resume, since that presents completely different things.

My younger son was very careful about following instructions on the Columbia application. The only “extra” information he provided was his AP scores and his grades from an academic summer program. He’s a first year at Columbia, so it seems not including the pile of other stuff on his application did not hurt him. Based on my analysis of the application, it seems they want you to present a full picture of yourself within the four corners of the application (and its very clear instructions).

OP, I was being polite in saying “generally speaking.” I was talking specifically about Columbia. Of the top colleges, Columbia app is quite unique and has special rules that YOU NEED TO FOLLOW.
