I want to attend Stern and major there in some realm of business. I also love math so I was thinking of doing either a math major/minor in CAS. Is that possible? I just found this:

Yes, basically if you’re a Stern student, you can also be a CAS student in the sense that you can take all the classes they can and more with a few exceptions here and there. But I know people who double major in finance and math so finance and a math minor is definitely doable. Too bad Stern won’t let you triple major.

^I think you can triple major. When I went to Stern Open House in 2008, they said you can have any combination of 3 majors/minors (except only 3 minors).

I don’t know, in my opinion, I don’t see the point of triple majoring. Unless you ABSOLUTELY love all three majors and can actually graduate in four years while doing it, I would think that a double major/one minor or one major/double minor would be sufficient. Minors are usually enough to get a taste of the subject area while not driving yourself bonkers. I wouldn’t pay for an extra year just to fit a third major. I guess with AP credits, it would be possible, but still.

The Stern student that told me she had a triple major said she came in with AP credits and some of her classes overlap. That’s why she was able to graduate in four years.

You can technically triple major. I could have triple majored and graduated in 4 yrs but didn’t because Stern only recognizes 3 designations with the maximum number of majors being 2. You can take all the required classes for 2 majors and then a third but Stern will only put on your diploma 2, but I guess you can say you tripled majored on your resume. If you can triple major and Stern recognizes all three, then what they told me was false and they basically screwed me over. -.-

Yes, because you need to take more classes to satisfy the requirements. Minimum 12 credits/semester to be considered full-time student I believe.

A minor in math is pretty easy as is a minor in computer science. I think it is only 3-4 additional classes for either if you are a business major.

It’s usually a little over 1k/credit without aid. So if you want to maintain full time status, you have to pay a minimum (1k * 12) per semester.

scary, where are you getting this information?

it’s a flat rate for all credits 12-18.

after you go over 18, THEN it is per point.
