I've participated in about 8-10 volunteer projects
I've been on high honor roll, and I have received various invitations to forums and conferences; I have also won many championships for sports teams as well.

I am interested in business and political science.

I think you have a good shot, but being from NJ you will have alot of competition! You HAVE to get your SAT’s up my a good 150-200 points. If you look on the NEU website you will see 1950 is now middle, to low middle of the acceptance pool. If you want Merit Aid, you will need to bring up SAT scores at least that much! Also, most schools are now a year ahead in Math. Good luck and keep working hard!

If you can, I’d spend the money and take a class. The amount you raise your scores could mean the difference between merit money and none. If my D had taken a class and raised her score another 100+, she would most likely have doubled what she got. My son will definately go for the class in hopes it will pay out in the end. We are those people who JUST miss any need based aid and the merit is a BIG help!

I think you have a good shot if you use your act score of 29 which translates to somewhere around a 1300 sat. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere you also need to have a demonstrated interest to be in the ball game

Thank you; should I take a class or get a tutor? I’ve always done well in school on my own discipline without the help of tutoring. Therefore, which environment do you think I’d thrive in the most, ultimately enabling me to increase my scores? And yes I am demonstrating interest as I am going to visit in a couple of weeks.

I would just try and get your ACT higher and not worry about SAT. I got a 29 and got a bunch of aid but if you are going to try again with standardized tests, I would work with your ACT score.
