Can you change colleges once you're in?

I know this has been talked about a few times but I have never gotten a straight answer from anyone. I know its hard but I'm really determined to change colleges right now... I heard a few people saying that if you find someone else that wants to transfer into the college you want to get out of you can change? anyone know the acutal process? I'm interested if anyone has a concrete answer... Thanks for any help.

basically, no

it's possible. that's all i know.

Yes you can. It's called Inner College Transfer, or ICT. The reason people will not give you a straight answer is because the staff is forbidden to talk about it. And yes the process if long and complicated. You basically meet with a bunch of people who try in every possible way to make you stay, while you prove to them that you can graduate two quarters earlier if you move to a different college. There's some paperwork involved but if you're really dead set on transferring then this shouldn't hinder you too much.

Be expected to hear a lot of angry voices. When I mentioned it to our academic counselor the first thing she demanded was the person's name who told me about it.

yes u can, my cousin changed schools

it's possible; one of my suitemates transferred revelle --> marshall as an art major. she got to keep revelle housing with us sophomore year.

which college are you in and why do you wanna transfer?
i know this one guy who wants to transfer from revelle to warren. i think he's an engineering major. (i think the whole graduate 2 quarters early applies in this situation)

I want to transfer from sixth college to hopefully Muir. I don't want to have to deal with the GE's. Also I don't like the location or the environment of the sixth college. I'm sure I'll get used to it but much rather be somewhere else.

they won't process change-of-college requests from prefrosh, not when you've had zero experience living as a sixth college student. but keep in mind that housing forms come out in june or july; what you put down on those forms IS where you will be living come september. there aren't enough spare rooms to allow for last-minute college transfers.

dude 6th is great. why do you want to transfer to muir? just the GEs? i personally don't see what the great thing about muir is.

like you said, you'll probably get used to it, plus after a quarter or two you might not want to switch anymore.

Yeah you guys are right. I'm happy enough as it is that I got into UCSD but this little change would make it perfect for me. I heard the location of sixth isn't that great either... Other than the fact that its the closest to the Price Center, isn't it the furthest from campus and really disconnected from the other colleges? Also it was furthest from the beach =]
