Can you change major into impacted major?

I’ll be attending College in the fall and I really am not sure how any of this works but when I applied I had chosen a non-impacted major that I was legitimately interested in, however now I took an interest in one of their animal impacted majors.
How would I be able to switch to the impacted one? Do I wait until school starts and right away let them know I want to do the impacted major?
Because I don’t want to waste a year taking classes there only to realize I can’t switch into the impacted major?

You need to contact the department and ask about what you need to do to transfer into that impacted program.

If say you wanted to do engineering, it’d be really difficult to transfer into it and you’d need super high credentials at Cal Poly Pomona to do it. You’d have to take all the prerequisites and maintain a high GPA. I don’t know how lax the animal science program here is, but I’d definitely ask the department. I know someone applied here as a non-impacted major (math major) and then was talking about switching to an impacted major (kinesiology), but you have to talk to the right people to find out how to make that happen. It’s never a guaranteed thing.

Also, I wouldn’t be so hasty to change your mind. You haven’t even been here yet.
