Can you defer enrollment for grad school?

<p>What the title says...after you get admitted, can you defer for a year or two, like with undergrad?</p>

<p>This depends totally on the school/program. You can't generalize. However, in our doctoral program you would not be able to defer because we cannot guarantee that you will be the most competitive applicant for financial aid (fellowship or assistantship) the next year and we're not going to hold the money for you on the chance that you might come next year.</p>

<p>My son deferred grad school for one year at University of Washington in computer science. They held his spot and his TA job and funding for him</p>
