Can you do both EA and ED?

I'm just wondering if you can do both EA and ED at the same time. I know the whole deal about rescinding applications after you get accepted ED. That said, can you apply EA to more than 1 school?

You can, but some colleges have certain rules about doing this. For example BC won't let you apply EA if you are applying ED elsewhere. Check with the specific colleges on their websites.

from what i've read on here it varies on a school by school basis -- some will allow it, some will not...

Ah I see. I'm doing ED for NYU, which is my dream school. I'm a curious person, and I just want to know where else I could have gotten into, but I don't want to jeoperdized my NYU chances or anything. I'm thinking about applying EA to Chapman.

There are exceptions, but most schools with EA do allow it. In general EA is just like RD, except earlier -- in that it doesn't matter where else you apply.

Do unless the schools with EA specifically state that you can't apply EA if you're already doing ED, it's safe to assume you can?

If you are accepted ED you are generally expected/required to withdraw all other applications. I would hope that your curiosity wouldn't stand in the way of someone else gaining admission to their dream school.

Right .

Yeah I know, but I figure I might get responses from EA schools before I have to rescind them. I don't see the point of EA though, it doesn't benefit the college in any way...

for the most part. check with the individual school. at yale, for example, their early acceptance is exclusive, but non binding. at most schools, however, it is acceptable.
