<p>Many schools use Subject Tests (SAT IIs) for placement and allow you to avoid certain requirements (math and foreign language are common), but they don't actually offer you credit as far as I know. An AP is meant to represent the end result of a college level course. Subject Tests are meant to measure your achievement in areas of HS curriculum.</p>
<p>I don't know about credit, but I'd say AP is harder.</p>
<p>The AP exams are MUCH longer than the 1 hour multiple-choice SAT II exams & often include an essay portion. I have not read of any colleges offering college credit for SAT II exams either. My son seems much more tired after the AP exams than after the SAT II exams.</p>
