assuming its in a tough course and the rest of your app is stellar (SATs, extracurriculars, reccs)

sorry..I know you can get into college, but can you get into a school like Middlebury or Bowdoin?

yes 10 char

I did! I had a C in Honors Chem with strong grades (though not perfect) in my other classes. And I got accepted to UChicago EA today. So no, a C amongst other very good credentials will not exclude you from top schools.

Thanks!

Oh, and Congrats NatalieW!

Any other success stories?

i got into Cornell with a C+ in spanish in eleventh grade...

I got into JHU with FOUR!

Has the C already happened? If you're sinking fast this semester, my advice is to knock yourself out to raise the grade.

I know plenty of students who got into top schools with a C or 2
It is not the end of the world especially if the C was in an accelerated course

Thank you all. Unfortuneately I got the C a couple years ago, so theres no way to change it now. Middlebury is my dream school, but I had myself convinced that my C would put me in the auto-reject pile.

I got into Bowdoin with one C my spring senior year.

I think it matters if it was in something like Health versus something like AP Chem.

don't mean to hijack the thread but....

what if you get a C in two classes of the same subject? for example, freshman year I got a C in Bio and junior year, I got a C+ in AP chem but those are the only two Cs on my transcript. would it be somewhat of a consolation that both Cs were earned in science?

It shows that chemistry perhaps is not your strength or that you don't have chemistry with chemistry.:)

nyuk nyuk nyuk!
