I was told by someone at the financial aid office at UCSB that I could only get one or the other and not both at the same time. Does anyone know if this is true?

I got the Cal Grant B and it will cover my full tuition.

Oops I mean Cal Grant A.

Since Cal Grant A covers your tuition, what else do you need?

If you’re expecting additional aid to cover your housing costs, it’s not going to happen. There are a handful of merit scholarships that cover tuition and room & board, but, unless you’re awarded one of those, you’re expected to pay your housing expenses yourself.

Blue and Gold is meant to supplement the CalGrant A, or replace it, but you don’t get both.

The Cal Grant A is less than full tuition, so the Blue and Gold supplements it so that it covers tuition. The total amount is no more than total tuition. You don’t get 11K CalGrant A plus 11K Blue and Gold.
