Can You Go To College Even If You Are Constantly Paranoid?

And also if you are really sensitive.

Well, pmvd did it. I suggest you PM him to discuss your concerns…and make it clear you’re not mocking him in the process.

paranoid and sensitive about what?

paranoid about mostly everything.

very sensitive when it comes to other people making fun of you.

do you see someone about that yet?

I never saw anyone about this problem.

Yes. Your college probably has therapists for free or at a very low cost, please see one and give yourself a chance to improve on your issues.

I have been told by a therapist that I have paranoid tendencies and I am doing okay. I also have social anxiety, AS, OCD and depression as well. Some of those disorders somewhat carry characteristics of paranoia. There are people with various problems who manage to do well in college.

You might have paranoid personality disorder, look into it and suggest this to a professional.

most universities provide psychological counseling for free on a short term basis (preliminary diagnoses, nervousness about school starting, bad breakups, etc) in order to promote healthy behavior required in order to be a successful student. long term counceling might be cheaper through the school, or might be provided. i cant speak for that, and it might be on a case by case bases.

your school should have a website with their policies regarding this on it.

genevieve91- Guess I totally got it right about the negative voices in your head in your chance thread. Seek professional help this summer. College is when most personality disorders surface and you can get help before you leave home.

that would be a good idea too
just to help you prepare yourself psychologically for the culture shock that is to come

Why do my posts always get deleted?

^ I don’t get it either. I did not see anything wrong with your post.

I might have deleted it by accident. You can repost it if you like. Sorry, if it’s my fault.

Most colleges offer free therapy, but make sure to get health insurance in case you need medication.

No, regular users do not have the ability to delete posts. It’s not your fault. But this is a telling exhibition of paranoia and sensitivity. Wow :)

^ it’s more courteous than it is paranoid or sensitive.

you’ll probably be fine. everyone has flaws. don’t listen to people who immediately tell you that you need a therapist or have a problem. just be calm and try not to make a big deal out of people joking around with you.

i have a friend who is psychotic and severely bipolar,
and he did just fine in college,
hell he has a phd
you don’t have to be limited by your mental issues if you don’t want to :)
