Can you guys chance me to a good ENGINEERING school?

Hey, guys! College application season is upon us and some of us are freaking out. I feel mediocre compared to some people here. I'm a rising senior and I'm going to use my EARLY DECISION on Northwestern University, McCormick School of Engineering. It's perfect for me, but I'm not sure I can get in. I've seen people here being sales braggers, but I genuinely need advice. My stats:

Thanks to you all and I hope you respond! :)

Yo your GPA is looking pretty good unweighted! I’d definitely want to pull up that SAT score, though, at least past 2000. It’s good that you have two perfect SAT II’s, French is also pretty good in my opinion, I would maybe try to bring up you Math SAT II if possible.

The only thing I’m kind of concerned about is that you’re asking to be chanced for an engineering school, and it seems like your strong suit is definitely humanities. The AP’s you’ve taken so far and the majority of your EC’s are more history/language based. It’s very good that you founded a Computer Science club, though.

All in all, your numbers are not bad, pretty good, and you do have a lot of founding positions. Also, in all honesty, being Hispanic will definitely help you, as will your “hooks.” I think you definitely have a very good chance.

Good luck!

Sorry but your SAT scores are too low to get into NU or any other top tier engineering program.

As mentioned, your math scores are weak. Most engineering programs scrutinize these scores very carefully. Consider trying the ACT or retaking the SAT with serious math study.

NWU is out of your range as a freshman; you may want to attend, say, test-optional WPI and, from there, transfer to NWU…

You need to bring up your SAT by a few hundred points before making NU a realistic target (or any top 20 engineering schools). Also, you did not indicate which SAT2 Math test you took. In either case, 650 in Math is rather low for engineering. You may need to aid a lot lower if you cannot bring up your test scores. Nevertheless, you should be qualified for the automatic admission at UT Austin. You may still need to work harder to enter the engineering school though.

Yep. I’ve signed up to take the ACT in September and also the SAT September and October dates.

It is quite concerning to go into engineering when I’m a humanities person. But I feel very attracted to computer science.

Im also interested in engineering at Northwestern! Im gonma agree with everyone and say bump up your sat score or try the act. Some people find one to be much easier than another. Chance me back?

No one gets into an elite engineering school with a 570 without some outrageous hook. Bring your score up by at least 400 points.

I know. I plan to retake the test in September and October.
