I realize I won't be applying for another year (I'm in the class of 2013), and I need to improve my class rank, but what about everything else? I'm considering majoring in journalism, although I'm not totally sure yet.

I'm also not sure of how UT views IB students... I mean, I know since I live in Texas that any school here is required to give me 24 hours of college credit if/when I get my diploma, but beyond that, I'm kind of clueless!

I haven’t taken them yet. I’m planning on taking the SAT (for the first time) in January, I believe. I just began my junior year, and my PSAT scores will arrive next month, but I doubt that matters…

I would raise your rank, become an officer in a club you’ve done for awhile, and participate in more business related things. I think you have a good chance, though.

Good luck. Try not to stress yourself out too much, but keep working hard! :)

Well, we take 3 HL classes for our diploma, and two of them are chosen for us- HoA and English. Yes, it’s only my first year, but we don’t have the option to take SL for those subjects. I know that the senior HL courses are different because they’re in their second year and not in my actual classes, but I wasn’t aware that juniors don’t normally don’t take HL classes…

at my school we took HL classes starting junior year as well, though I’ve heard of HL and SL being the same thing for the first year at some schools, then before senior year you decide which you want to take HL and which SL. I think the only difference between the two systems is when you decide what you want to take SL and what you want to take HL.
