Prompt: Is the way something seems to be not always the same as it actually is?

Something that may seem glorious, may at times be nothing more than a fraud, while those that look pitiful may actually hold more meaning. From the book, The Great, the baseball player Ryan Braun and the monumental Fenway Park of the Boston Redsox, we can see that things are not always exatly as it may seem.
F.Scott Fidgerald, through his novel The Great Gatsby, shows how truly two sided a person can be. Jay Gatsby is portrayed as a truly opulent figure. He lives ins a big house, throws luxuruious parties and tell the tales of his fantasy like past experiences. He is truly admired and captrues the eye of the narrator, Nick Carraway. However, he was just like the many people of his time, poor and hoping for the American Dream. Despite all the tall tales he told of his past, he was from humble origins, having to work for every penny he earned. While telling the tales of his past, Gatsby reminds his audience that currently his goal is to stay motivated and diligent, in reality he was a scumbag, money being the only true goal in life. Materialistic and greedy, he even taints the concept of love. Although professing his love for a girl named Daisy, Gatsby only feels such emotions because he wants to possess her, not truly love her. Gatsby was a man who was everything but his words.
The 2011 National League MVP, baseball player Ryan Braun is another example of a true fraud. Throughout the 2011 MLB season, Braun surprised, motivated and exceited the nation and especially the city of Milwaukee through his extraoridnary feats. Among the top in most of the Major Leagues top offensibe categories, Braun almost succeeded in carrying his team, the Milwaukee Brewers to the World Series. A hero and a great baseball player, Braun seemed like the real deal to most, eventually taking home baseballs greates honor, the MVP award. However, as it turned out Braun was just another member of basballs list of shame, he was examined to have taken performance enhancing drugs. Although Brauns records may show him to be a MVP caliber person, in reality he was just another cheater.
On the other hand, the low quality facilities of the baseball stadium, Fenway Park only shows a miniscule fraction of its great history. Built in 1912, Fenway Park is the oldest stadium in America. Its seats are old, scoreboard manual and has one of the lowest seating capacities of all the 32 baseball stadiums. However, the staduim posseses a history and tradition that no other stadum posseses. It has been the home of the Boston Redsox and all of its legendary players. The Redsox Nation, one of the most ardent group of baseball fans, have witnessed in the seats of the stadium the Redsox pulling of stunning upsets, winning championships and breaking curses. I have once been to Fenway Park, and can still remember the smell, the signts and the eccentric atmosphere of the historic landmark. To many it may seem only as an outdated facility, a park that has outdone its time, but it is actually one of the greatest peices of history in the tradition of sports.
Through a careful analysis of the novel The Great Gatsby, the 2011 campaign of the baseball player Ryan Braun and the celbrated, yet old Fenway Park we can conclude that the way something seems cannot tell its full story. Although some heroes are truly great people and some buildings completely outdated, it is hard to say that everything is just as it may seem to be.

I usually use a lot of examples of sports in my essay, will this be okay?
Thanks for all the help!
