I have only recently discovered that my passion lies in teaching/literacy, and I'd really like to convey this to the adcoms when I apply this fall (I'm a rising senior). Unfortunately, I haven't done much, so I'm wondering if any of you wonderful people can propose any new ideas?

Here's what I've done/will do:
-Founded a tutoring program at a school in a high crime, low income neighborhood
-Director of my school's tutoring program through NHS (where I also tutor students in Latin/Math/anything else)
-Private tutoring for some money in various areas, including the SAT (I only got a 2220, but my students have gotten around 1500)
-Will co-ordinate a used children's book drive once school begins again in September, in order to benefit children's hospitals, school libraries, and prisons.

So does anyone else have any ideas that might help me stand out in the field of education/literacy? Thanks in advance!

Oh and my prospectie major will probably be classics (to become a Latin teacher), so any usggestions incorporating this subject would also be greatly appreciated.

@Chaseholl: yeah, yeah, I know. It’s just that I’d also like them to see a common thread before reading the essay. I guess it’s kind of unrealistic at this point, but I’d really like to do something where the adcoms would be like, “wow, this kid really is interested in teaching!” I just don’t know what that thing is.

@Hatsheput and Seahawks506: Hmmmm. So I should just stick to what I hae, and become more involved in it? Is that what you’re saying?

@Saugus: Before you think I’m some pretentious CC overachiever, I only said “only” because some people might think it too low to be tutoring other kids on the SAT. Haha, don’t worry!
