Can you help decide on one of these colleges?

Hello!

So I’ve been accepted to The University of Miami and American University, and I was wait listed at The George Washington University. I’m trying to list these schools in order from my top choice to my last choice but I am so unsure! Let me give you some background on myself and what I am looking for:

  • I would like a school that is considerably more liberal than conservative
  • I am majoring in Journalism -I would like a school to be pretty diverse and representative of different races and cultures. -I would like my school to be "medium sized" (to me, medium sized is between 5,000 and 10,000 undergraduates)
  • Nice freshman dorms would be lovely
  • Suburban area surrounded by a great city -Nice weather -Want to avoid a school dominated by greek life or "preppy" people

And I also have some follow questions that would be help:

1.) Which of these schools would you choose if it was you and why?
2.) How would you order these schools in terms of the best journalism program to least best?
3.) How would you order these schools from best recognized (aka best ranked/regarded) to least?

I know nothing about Miami’s Journalism program, but I do know that DC has got to be a better environment for the field. Best wishes on your decision!

They both have good journalism programs, though I think American is slightly more known for journalism. Miami is a pretty big school (10,000+), and Greek life seems somewhat prevalent there. Miami and Washington are both great cities, but Washington will give you more opportunities, especially for journalism. So I would chose American.
