1.) Which college would you personally pick?
2.) Which has a higher/better status/reputation in the U.S.?
3.) Which is better for a liberal, minority, wanting a fun school/location, with awesome, interesting people and an almost absence of greek life who is majoring in Journalism?
Thanks!!

The University of Miami, personally. Warm weather, access to beaches, lots of majors in things that interest me, a diverse student body, and big sports teams to cheer for. American U is a great place, too, I just personally would pick Miami.

I think the University of Miami is slightly more well-reputed in the U.S., but both are nationally known and very good.

I think both of them are probably equally good in those regards. D.C. and Miami are both great locations, and which one you prefer is really just a matter of preference/choice. UMiami does have a reputation as a party school - it regularly appears on top XX lists of party schools - but I think many medium-to-large universities with big sports have that. By all accounts, the fraternity/sorority scene doesn’t dominate there; it appears that less than 20% of the student body participate in Greek life. And UMiami does have a reputation for strengths in communications and media, given the School of Communication.
American U also has a school of communication and a journalism major with other related majors, leading to a critical mass of students in that area. Greek life also seems to be more quiet in that area. American is not going to be appearing on any lists of party schools, but that doesn’t mean that the scene isn’t there - might be worthwhile to ask around in the American forums.
I got waitlisted to UM and accepted to AU. I would of chosen UM of I had gotten accepted.
