for one of my friend cuz he s done A LOT of activities in elementary school... and I am curious about that too

I don't think so...it was too long ago, and colleges want to see what you've done recently, not what you did when you were 11!

Colleges and scholarships do not allow you to do that. I wish they did, since I've received numerous awards in junior high. :(

how about something that you started many years ago(grad.3 or4) and are still doing it nowadays?

You can definitely explain that you started doing something in elementary school or junior high if you are still doing it today and you want to show a dedication to that particular extra curricular activity over years. What you don't want to do however is list any activities on your application that took place when you were younger that did not continue to the current

go watch the superbowwl

another sideway question, in Common App you only got like 7 spots to list your ECs, what if you ve diversely done more than 7? just omit the "not as important" ones?

"I wish they did, since I've received numerous awards in junior high."

Me too. Sadly, my HS doesn't give out awards. Blah.

can you just list a thing you ve done in elementary school and omit mentioning when you did it?

for example, my friend has a black bell in martial art, he earned it in grade4..
can he just put it simply "martial art, black bell" as a referance without a specific time?

yea, i think that'd be fine.

how do you do that in common app then? you need to specify your the year and the amount of time

plus, I know that you can attach addtional resumes to emphasize or explain some ECs, can you use those resumes to list the things you ve done in middle school without mentioning when you did it?

In which martial art can you earn a black belt in 4th grade?

Well, one time I was at a wedding and some random little seven year old kid was walking around in the halls in a karate outfit. He claimed he was a black belt but we didn't believe him.. Needless to say, he showed us some of his stuff, and we were convinced, so I guess it can be done.

Yeah - they don't really care what you did in fourth grade... unless of course you were named NBC child of the year or something.

"Continuation" stuff is okay- like if someone's an Eagle Scout or whatever the Girl Scout equivalent is (I was in Girl Scouts, that's the one I should know) but started when they were in elementary school, that's obviously fine. But I wouldn't list awards or activities you did in elementary school/jr. hihg- even if it was a big award/activity, it'll look like you didn't do anything meaningful in high school.

I think you could mention it in your essays, but many apps state specifically the cutoff, like Stanford's app (10th grade and after).

anybody knows about attaching a resume? how does that work in terms of this
