<p>Can you guys give me a score for the SAT ESSAY ? ? ? ( 0~12)</p>

<p>Here is my essay.</p>

<p>Prompt : "Should friends be honest with each other?"</p>

<p>It is not easy for most people to be honest with their friends. However, we should be honest with our friends each other, even if a truthful comment could be hurtful. In my few experiences, it is true.
When I was in South Korea, my old friend, Sara, and I were invited to a farewell party. So we went to the downtown since we did not have appropriate outfit for the party. While we are considering for our party clothes, Sara asked me with her awful wearing, "Look at me, Jiho. Any comment?" So I replied as, "Well, it look so good, Sara," although it was eccentric and dreadful. Finally, after we decided our wearing, we went to the party. There were so many people, including Jisu, Sara's boyfriend. Sara and I accosted Jisu, even I did not want to do so because of Sara's terrific outfit. My anxiousness became reality. As soon as Jisu look at Sara, he ran away from her because he felt shame and awkward for her acrid countenance. After this event, Sara and Jisu ended their love as well as the relationship between Sara and me.
I also had experienced such an event in here, America. It was in geography class. One day we had the test. Two of my class friends came to me insidiously, since I was the smartest guy in the class, and asked me to allow their cheating. I could not refuse their earnest ask so I allowed them to cheat mine. During the test, however, I turned my mind to deceive them. I gave them the wrong answers. After finish the test, the teacher declared our scores. Guess what had happened! I got ninety-five percent and those who had cheated mine got forty-five percent in the test. As it turned out, they did not accost me, and they did not even look at me.
After these events happened to me, I had realized a fact. To be honest with my friends, in whatever situation, is the most important thing, even if it could be hurtful, between friends.</p>

<p>what's with so many damn periods in your posts</p>

<p>Do we need knowledge of the past to fully understand the present?</p>

<pre><code>Knowledge of the past is an inevitable necessity to truly understand the present because every aspect of the present is a consequence of the past. Without knowing what have occurred before a certain incident, no one can conclude the reason why that incident took place. Various examples, such as Tradition and Individual Talent by T. S. Eliot, the traditional English-French relationship, and some current racial conflict in the United States well support this notion.
In Tradition and Individual Talent, Eliot explains the relationship between the past and the present by insisting that the present can only be truly present when full understanding of the past is applied to it. He also insists that without the past, the present cannot exist independently, so people ought to study tradition in order to create genuinely present literature. Since the present is a direct consequence of the past, ignoring the past while trying to examine the present only results in miscomprehension.
The intrinsic hostility between English and French can only be understood when the knowledge of the past, the Hundred Years War, is taken into account. After fighting over a hundred years during Medieval age, throughout history up to present, England and France have been rivals. Trying to analyze the rivalry between England and France without considering this fact is completely misguided because in fact, the relationship between England and France had been mutually beneficial, and rationally there is no reason for them to be hostile to each other.
Also, the profound racial conflict in the modern United States can only be understood when knowledge of the history of slavery in the past is considered. For more than four centuries, European immigrants and their descendants had enslaved Africans in their plantations. Since slavery was very inhumane and cruel, many Africans grew a deep hostility towards white Americans, their masters. After emancipation, the former masters did not accept legally equal state of their former slaves, resulting in a racial conflict.
In some cases, natures of characteristics of the present may be understood without knowledge of the past. However, if the profound and complicated incidents were to be understood, one must examine the past, because there might be reasons that are obsolete, but still in effect. As Tradition and Individual Talent, English-French relationship, and racial conflict in the United States exemplify, knowledge of the past is necessary in order to fully understand the present.

<p>How about this one ? ? ?</p>

<p>huh?
??? what ? huh ?</p>

<p>For the first essay, I give it a 5. The second one...a 5 too. You really need to work on grammar. You have a lot of run ons which makes it hard to read. Shorten some of your sentences so you have more sentence variety.</p>

<p>Work on your grammar.. to be honest thats one of the biggest things that the readers are looking for. I was only able to finish 3/5's of my essay because I ran out of space and I still got an 11 out of 12. Just read it to yourself and ask, does that sound right?</p>

<p>I'd say a 5 as well, but don't trust my grading too much. I suggest you organize your thoughts more in several paragraphs while working on your grammar.</p>

<p>hey guys... how can I organize my thoughts more in several paragraphs ? :x</p>

<p>lol was the second one an essay from may sat? i remember doingn that essay with past and present thingy...</p>

<p>I think that, for the second one (past, present) you need to share exactly WHY a good understanding of the present is necessary, and what a good understanding of the past contributes to it. Basically, here, you're just giving us a couple of history lessons.</p>

<p>Right now, I'd say a 5.</p>
