can you major in computer science outside of the school of engineering?

Question above^^^ thanks!

I’m not entirely clear on the question–but Computer Science at Rice is housed within the School of Engineering. That doesn’t mean that you’ll have to take engineering classes; it just means that your department is part of the larger engineering school. Does that make sense/is there something else I can address?

Thanks for the response, I meant if I wanted to major in computer science at Rice…Would I have to apply to the school of engineering?

The school you apply to is non-binding. But yes, if you plan to major in comp sci it is a majored offer through the school of engineering.

The only schools you have to apply to are Architecture and Music. You can easily move between the other “schools” aka changing your major.
