Can you not apply to a college after you've sent them your test score, letter of rec and transcript?

I sent all my test scores and transcripts to the eight colleges on my list in late October, even though I’m applying regular decision everywhere, after hearing the stressful freakouts of friends whose scores or transcripts for their early deadlines still hadn’t been received. I also gave my letters of recommendation writers my colleges and both have already sent theirs. I did all this so that until I send in all my apps on December 16 (won’t let this stress taint my winter break and last childhood christmas), I would only have the essays to worry about. Yet, there is one university in particular I no longer want to apply to. This school requires two long supplementary essays that I honestly don’t want to write, is extremely expensive, and is honestly a reach for me. I realized I was only applying for my grandpa, because he went there and was pushing its merits on me. I don’t think I’ll get in at all. However, they already have my transcripts, test scores, and a letter of recommendation for me already. Can I not apply? Would that be rude? I feel so bad for already wasting money on a school I won’t get into anyways, but I don’t want to waste more either. Thank you.

Sure, you can skip it. If it is truly unaffordable, and the net price calculator shows that, then skip it. But… don’t be lazy, either. If you can afford it (or Grandpa would help), put in the work and decide if you are accepted.

You can skip it- however, I agree that you should try to apply- you never know if you will get in.
