I have particular reason why I want to be an International major, but I think it will make the thread so long, so I will keep it.

Also Bryn Mawr is my ED1 (I LOVE BRYN MAWR♥) and MHC will be ED2. Other two schools will be RD probably.

If my English confuse you, I am so sorry. It's my third year in US and my grammar is still not good :p
How ever, thank you so much for reading my looooooong thread!!!! and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate and ask me!

I’d say you have a good chance at admissions to both schools. From what I understand (and I am just applying this year to both myself, but I have researched them a lot and attended information meetings), the sisters aren’t super GPA/test score obsessed like other schools. In fact, you don’t have to submit your test scores to MHC at all, if you choose to do so. Its not mandatory.

Anyhow, they evaluate the applicants using a holistic approach. So your EC’s, essays, etc will have weight. Your GPA isn’t terrible, especially because of the depression problems. Your EC’s are great. Try to strengthen your recommendations and essay if you can, I know the sisters look closely at those. Good luck!

Your stats are a bit on the low side but they are balanced by your good EC’s. You have a good chance on getting in if you have a great essay and good recs. Good luck!
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1692134-chance-me-ivy-others.html#latest

I would say maybe for MHC, and that Skidmore is a reach. Bryn Mawr in between those two. Not sure about GWU as I’m not very familiar with it.

Does your guidance counselor know about the depression and how it affected your grades? If not, you should definitely discuss this with him/her. If they believe, and can comment, on how you went through that struggle and overcame it and are doing great now, they can make a note of that which will give the admissions people a better understanding of your whole picture.

My daughter had a similar situation, in fact, struggling with depression her junior year. She is currently attending MHC, which was her first choice. She was not accepted at Skidmore, though. My sense is that Skidmore is a little more “by the numbers” and less holistic in the way they read applications, although that may not be true. You never really know why you did/didn’t get accepted! FWIW her unweighted GPA at the time of application was 3.46 (3.7 by graduation) and her SAT was 2100.

Remember you have the rest of this semester to get your GPA up a little but more! Especially if you struggled last year, showing a strong upward trend now will be important.

@stitchpony‌ thanks for your comments! and yea… hope they knew I worked hard but didn’t turn out well in my gpa and act stuff :stuck_out_tongue: and good luck to you!!!

@razaza‌ ughhh I know… my only concern is gpa… sigh… well good thing that you think I have good EC’s! and I will look up on your thread. Thanks for your comment!

@staceyneil‌ ahhhh your comment made me debating beween MHC and BMC… (ED1 VS ED2)
um I briefly talked about that I had hardest time in my life during my junior year on my recommendation packet for the teachers, but I am not sure if they wrote that down or not. However on my college list, I said that BMC gives really big emphasis on recommendation, so hopefully they put some more efforts on it… and I am not as attracted to Skidmore or GWU, so it’s all good. Plus I hope that daughter’s having a good time in MHC! Thank you so much for your awesome comment ^0^

Make sure you talk to you guidance counselor about the depression. I would recommend talking to him/her about it in person. Their section of the common app is where these things are best discussed. And, thank you, yes, my daughter loves MHC!
