There seem to be plenty for theatre but my daughter would prefer one that focuses on film for the summer after junior year in high school.
thanks for your help!

I attended the National High School Institute Film Acting camp at Northwestern University last summer and it absolutely changed my life. I stayed on-campus for three weeks and participated in daily film-specific acting classes as well as workshops about surviving as a professional performer; I also performed in about eight student films written, directed, filmed, and edited by the film production NHSI campers. I grew so much, learned a lot of practical things about life as a Working Actor, I had a blast, and I made a lot of friends. Plus, I think having NHSI on my resume helped me get accepted into Northwestern and USC, so that’s been awesome too! Here’s a link to the Web site:

The program’s pretty pricey, but I got every dime of financial aid that I asked for and with a few outside scholarships through my school district, my parents only ended up paying about $200 - even if you have to pay more, the reputation of the program and the value of its education merits the pricetag.

I hope this isn’t too late! I loved NHSI and I’d encourage anyone to go there.

Cathryn Sullivan Acting for Film are summer classes…

She’s my acting coach and AMAZING. she’s taught logan miller, cody linely (her son), madison pettis, demi lovato, and selena gomez just to name a few. I’ve seen cody at the studio a few times actually.

It’s near Dallas, TX. A bit of a shlep if you don’t live here, but I’ve met people who traveled from Houston, Austin, El Paso, New York, Florida, etc. She has Film 1-6, then New Masters 1 and 2, then Masters. It’s an amazing program, and obviously worked from the actors and actresses she’s produced. I absolutely love it, and recommend it 10000%.

I just got back on and saw your replies. I appreciate it. We live in Houston so I will definitely check out the Dallas program. The dean at our school recommended Interlocken- more theater based.
