See Title Thanks

NOPE, unless u talk to the professor

It depends. Sometimes they don't check. But I would email the professor and ask him/her about it.

Who checks? I can't believe someone is going through people's transcripts to see if people have the prereqs.

If it's a small class, the professor would check. If it's a large lecture, the GSIs will probably do the checking. For example, Bio 1A is a class that is always overenrolled at the beginning of the semester. So, everyone who didn't get a C- in Chem 3A or higher, or wasn't also enrolled in the lab section, was dropped from the class.

There may be exceptions where they are checking prerequisites, but those must be exceptions. There's no way professors or GSIs are checking the transcripts of each student. I doubt if they even have access to transcripts. And there's no way to know if someone meets the prerequisites without checking their full transcript, including AP and transfer coursework. It just doesn't make sense. Some departments may have placement exams, etc.but that is something else.

As far as I can tell, the answer to the poster's question is that yes, you probably can take a class without the prerequisites. It may be wise to check with the professor first, but probably no one will stop you if you just sign up for the class and show up the first day. The more overcrowded a class, the smaller, or the more unusual a class, the more likely you are to encounter trouble.

telebears does not have any mechanisms in place to stop students from signing up for any courses. the discretion of whether you can take the course falls on the instructor.

i took math 53/54 without math 1a/1b or any ap classes, so if it's a big class chances are no one will check
