Can you take courses from community colleges and get them transferted to Cal Poly?

I had the feeling it is hard to graduate on time at Cal Poly. And, it seems not easy to get minor or double majors. I wonder if one can still take courses from community college during summer and get them transferred to Cal Poly? If the answer is yes, how many units can be transferred?

ya you can

I believe you can transfer up to 20 or 21 college units after you graduate from high school and still be considered an entering freshman. After you begin at CalPoly you can continue to take CC courses, especially good for getting GE courses out of the way.

There’s a website that the advising center(s) recommend for seeing which units transfer over:

I am a transfer student (SRJC) and I got accepted to Cal Poly SLO a few days ago. You can transfer up to 60 units in general education to Cal Poly (I recommend following the “IGETC”, which are the general ed. requirements for CSU’s and UC’s). It takes about 2 years to get this done but when you transfer you will be a 3rd year student as opposed to a 1st year. The great thing about this is once you enter Cal Poly, you will only have to focus on your major requirements. If you plan to do this make sure to see a counselor regularly to make sure you are on track and that all your courses are transferrable.

PS. Get your major prep done while you are doing your general education! It will make you a more competitive applicant.

Hope that helps!

Are credits only transferrable if they are from California colleges?
