I don't think you'll find the answers you are looking for here. Talk to a counselor at your college, and go to the UC website and see what you can learn. You also could call UCLA and see if you could talk to someone there. Usually, kids transfer after 2 years, although it can be done if you have enough credits.

No you wouldnt get in your fist year. When you apply to either UCLA or UCB, you want to have your major requirments finished, which i am sure you dont yet. That means you would have had to at least finished them in the summer and have already applied with your grades. Just take your time and apply after 2 years. Dont be in such a rush, enjoy life

One year is definitely achievable, but the students who do that almost always have AP credits from high school. The only way you can finish 60 units by the end of next semester would be if you have maybe 4 to 5 AP classes from high school, translating to maybe 20 college semester units. So you can take ~20 units per semester in your CC and transfer in time.

I'm not saying its not doable, i am just saying its highly unlikely. I am just trying to point out there is not rush to finish as fast as possible. He is plannig to take 12units in 6 weeks for winter. That is a hell of a lot. I am just giving a different prospective. He may crash and burn, i dont know, so its just another perspective

I transferred in 1 year, with a 4.0. But my major was Philosophy, which if you're passionate about, is easier to get a 4.0 in. I'm at Cal now. For a science major with labs or engineering, it will be hard for sure. But yes, it is possible. PM me if you have any questions.
