Canada vs USA

Hey guys this is my first post here.
I’m a Korean student from Indonesia and i need your help!
i can’t seem to decide on which one i want to attend.
I was admitted to:
University of British Columbia
UC Davis and
UC Irvine

The factors that matter to me are
the mechanical engineering course
post-graduation opportunity
life environment (food, city, diversity of people, etc.)

I think i should also mention that i thinking of transferring to USC, UCLA or UCB, and that i plan on working in the US after I graduate.

Based on the factors you mentioned, definitely Davis.

“i plan on working in the US after I graduate.”

Id you say that to the visa officer at the US consulate, you will not get your student visa. At the interview, you need to make it very clear that you intend to return to your own country as soon as your OPT work permission runs out - if not sooner.

Unless you have a US citizen or permanent legal resident fiance waiting to marry you between now and when you graduate, you cannot guarantee that you will be able to have long-term work permission here. Yes, you can extend your student visa for a certain period of time under the OPT rules, but very few engineering graduates with only a bachelor’s degree from a US university manage to find an employer who can get them an H1B (work) visa for longer term employment.

Canada has much friendlier work permission for international students while they study and after they graduate. If your goal is to stay out of Korea/Indonesia for as long as you possibly can (or even permanently) you probably should study at U of British Columbia.

Vancouver is one of the best cities in the world to live in. UBC is also a top rated university for engineering.
