@jk, which part of Canada are you from/

Interviews don’t mean anything about your chances. There are applicants who were accepted without interviews, and applicants who were interviewed but were ultimately rejected. This is actually my second round of admissions as I’m currently on a gap year. Last year, I had interviews for Princeton, Penn, and Yale, but didn’t get into any of them. On the other hand, I ended up on Columbia’s waiting list, even though they never contacted me about an interview.

@deathblade127 I’m from Ontario.
@calgirl15 That’s true; I was just wondering if Yale was offering them this year to Canadians.

Also, did anyone apply to WUSTL? Decisions were posted yesterday and I got wait listed :(

UPENN 2016 :D

Did anybody else get an acceptance?

I’M SO EXCITED. And so confused as to how they chose me BUT I’M NOT COMPLAINING.

None here so far. Waitlisted at Dartmouth and Duke. I haven’t heard from Harvard yet but I’m not hopeful. Still waiting on Stanford and Amherst tomorrow…

Update: 0 for 8. Rejected at Harvard (finally received the email) and Amherst. Waiting for Stanford tomorrow, but I highly doubt I’m getting in at this point.

Summary of stats: 2300 SAT, 800 and 750 SAT IIs, Mostly 6-7’s on IB Diploma

Accepted: UCLA
Rejected: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Wharton, Dartmouth, UCBerkeley

Headed to the west coast next fall :)

^ Seriously, don’t worry about it. This is my final tally:

Accepted: McGill
Waitlisted: Dartmouth, Duke
Rejected: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Penn, Brown, Amherst

Quite honestly, I didn’t care very much about these schools except for Harvard and Stanford (those two were among my top choices for quite some time). Upon second thought, I think McGill’s undergrad program would have been more suitable for me anyway. I used to live in Montreal for a year, and now I’m glad I’m going back!

To any other disappointed Canadian applicants reading this thread, if you make the most out of your undergrad years, you’ll stand a very strong chance at Ivy League grad schools. Trust me on this. haha I sometimes read the Harvard ■■■ site just for kicks, and EVERY year there are posts by students there complaining about how stressed out they are about their grades/GPA and how they wish they could have gone to their in-state flagship for an easier time. The top Canadian universities are definitely comparable to the top state universities in the US, if not better, so if you end up at either one of McGill/U of T/UBC, BE HAPPY! It’s far from the worst thing that could happen.

@calgirl15 I completely agree, and thank you for the inspirational post! I too have had my eye on Harvard for many years (since birth really, lol! My grandpa went there and wanted me to as well… the committee had different plans.) but I know I am quite fortunate to have options at great Canadian schools, and I can always try again for Harvard graduate, as you said. My tally:

Accepted: U of T - Trinity, UBC, McMaster, Waterloo, Guelph
Rejected: Harvard
Haven’t heard from: McGill

Good luck to everyone in future endeavors with undergrad and graduate schools in both Canada and the US! :)

Canadian Applicant
Accepted: Cornell, U of T Rotman Commerce (Trinity), Queen’s Commerce, Richard Ivey at University of Western Ontario, UC Berkeley, UMich, Emory, UVA
Rejected: NYU Stern (ED)
Waitlist: Princeton

Ontario resident :)

Accepted: Yale EA, Harvard likely, Princeton RD, UofT, Waterloo
Rejected: Stanford RD
Waitlist: None

Hey! I’m in grade 11 right now. You’re thread seemed like a wealth of information. I hardly ever get to correspond with Canadians applying to the States and when I do they’re either in the IB program or have numerous APs. My school has none and I was wondering if you guys had any tips for me regarding the average, SATs, subject tests and your opinions about the whole process.

I’d like to study International Relations and eventually go to law school. Any help would be very much appreciated!! :)

Accepted: Brown, Stanford, Berkeley, UChicago
Waitlist: Duke
Rejected: Pretty much everywhere else

From looking at this and previous years’ threads, I’ve a feeling UPenn have been very welcoming towards Canadian students among the elites. anyone else getting the same feeling?

^Somewhat. Penn is need-blind for Canadians and has a slightly lower admission rate for Canadians (like 2% lower than domestic) and considering most apply to Penn SEAS, it is not surprising. And of course, 10-20% seems generous to Yale’s/MIT’s/Princeton’s less than 5% International admit rate.

@calgirl15

i’m completely new to this and i want to know how you applied for Cambridge
like was there a test you had to take and all that kind of stuff
thaanks !!

Dreamr, you should post your questions here, since calgirl15 hasn’t posted here in awhile: [United Kingdom - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/united-kingdom/)

@artexius
I want to be you! I’m also an ontario resident shooting for those schools this year! wish me luck
Could I PM you with questions about essays and such? you would seem like a good authority on that considering that what you did worked for you.

hey guys, just a quick question. which public high schools have a better chance for harvard U? thax

Any public high school will bode well in Canada, as the admissions officers wouldn’t know any of them (You will need to choose based on their academics, improving your chances)
