I'm trying to get some financial aid for my schools that i applied to...
but im a permanant resident in canada with canadian citizenship.
my parents have tax income stuff in canada, but not in the US...
i tried to get the PIN number but it required social security number which i do not have...
am i not eligible for any financial aid?
where do i get the social security number?

If you are not a US citizen or a qualified non citizen (such as green card holder) then you are not eligible to file FAFSA online and are not eligible for federal aid. You may be eligible for institutional aid at schools. You would have to ask the schools what forms you need to file to apply for aid. For instance a Canadian citizen applying to Stanford can file CSS profile.

thank you swimcatsmom!
i've been wondering all the time and now its clear to me :)
do i ask the schools via email?

or telephone. I'm anal, I send an email (or use whatever online form the school has on their website) and if I don't hear back fast, I call.

Better to cover all bases, especially if time is of the essence.

First think to do NOW is check EVERY schools website for their specific info on aid for Canadians (some may treat Canadians differently than other international students)
