I currently have a housing contract to live In Ragans for the Fall/Spring. I've recently decided to try and lease at an apartment off-campus; however, the deadline to cancel housing contracts was May 1st, so now I have to appeal to get my contract voided. Does anyone have any experience with canceling a contract after the cancellation deadline? If so, were you successful appealing and how long did it take to receive a decision? I don't have medical or extreme circumstances.
Thanks

A few years ago I tried to switch buildings the business day after the deadline for returning residents (Monday vs. Friday, no joke), and it still took nearly 3 months to switch. It was a colossal hassle getting any word from Housing on the status of my request or anything.

When you request to get out of a contract, they have to find a replacement for your assignment (so someone has to be wanting to move into Ragans for anything to proceed). Since it’s this far past the deadline, you’re probably going to get told no outright, quite honestly. The odds are that very few people are trying to get into Ragans at this point.

Without some good reason for completely canceling your housing contract, you’re probably going to be stuck. You might be able to negotiate with them to move out after fall if they don’t let you out for the whole year. That’s probably about as likely as simply getting out of your contract, though.
