I took the SAT Subject test the second time yesterday (Dec testing) but did badly as I was under the weather. I am thinking about canceling sending the scores to all the colleges including a number of UC campuses. I understand I can do this by Wednesday (Dec 9) after the test. However, on my UC Application, I indicated that I woudld be taking the English Subject Test in Dec (although I also have put down my scores from the Oct seating.) My questions are two fold: a) is ther way to notify the UC not to expect addtional Subject scores from the Dec testing and use the scores from Oct? b) If it is possible to notify the UC campuses, how would this move help or hurt my chance of getting accepted? My Oct Subject scores were not as good as my SAT I or ACT scores in terms of percentiles.

As long as you have submitted two official SAT II scores to the UCs you will be considered for admission. Unless they contact you and ask about the December testing you likely do not have to do anything. You could send a letter simply telling them that you have canceled the test score and will rely on the October scores although my understanding is that you would need to send that letter to each UC to which you applied. As to impact on chances, they will just rely on what they have.

You say your October scores are lower percentile-wise than SAT or ACT but that says nothing since SAT II percentiles in relation to score are always lower than SAT or ACT percentiles in relation to score, example: 700 on an SAT II test can be the 50 percentile but it is still a good score, percentiles are skewed by the fact that those taking SAT IIs are mostly higher ranked students applying to colleges that require SAT IIs and it is high ranked colleges that require SAT IIs. Score is important for SAT IIs not percentiles.
