I have been going crazy over this college admissions/search stuff and I have really decided I was dumb and made a total mistake by applying ED to what I thought was my “#1” school. I know it is bad to breech the contract AFTER they accept you, but if I were to call tomorrow and ask if they would move my ED application to RD, could they say no? I am not worried about it affecting my chances, etc. because I have other schools I have decided on applying to and honestly I am not really as interested as I thought in this “#1 school” I applied ED to. So what can I expect in this situation? Anyone ever do anything along these lines? The school doesnt notify until Dec. 15th so I doubt they already decided if I am accepted or not. What do you think?

Worst they can do is tell you no.

You can absolutely go to RD and should.

Valuable:

You should call them ASAP, and write a letter changing your ED to RD.

I was going through the same thing. I ED'd at Amherst, but I was second guessing myself, for various reasons. Ultimately, I decided to see what happens because Amherst and Bowdoin are neck-a-neck. If I do decide in the meanwhile, that Bowdoin (or any other school emerges as a first-choice in the next few days) I would change my application to Amherst, as they usually do not start looking at apps until next week.

Hope this is of use to you. Good luck. :)

You definitely can change your app to RD and please notify them. In your case, it makes the most sense to do this.
