So I explained to my admissions officer for UC Berkeley that I had broken a term of condition for admission and was told it was fine as long as I completed certain steps which I did. However, it seems like I might have also broken another one and I am pending cancellation of acceptance.

I know in a situation like this it's best to go straight to the source, but I think the source is going to tell me there's not much I can do, plus, I'm kind of ashamed to have gotten this far and messed up. I think my chances with Berkeley are ruined now. But I'm wondering, when it comes to this point. (I failed a class and got lower than a 3.5 my last semester, it was a 3.0) Is there any other solutions? Is it too late for other universities?

I got accepted into UC San Diego, LA, And Irvine as well as USC. Do you think any will take me for fall? or at the very least Spring at this point? What would you do...what can you do?

It’s pretty late for SIR’ing, but CollegeDropout1 mentioned that some UC’s may be willing to accept late admits still.

I know you already know this, but contact your admission officer for each of the UC’s to see what they can do for you in the event UCB decides to drop you.

Don’t forget to contact the UCB admission officer first. She (or he) may be willing to work something out with you!

also, if you have good cc transfer counselors/advisors, go talk to them. Sometimes they’ll talk to UC’s on your behalf and try to help get you in.

If you wanted to SIR at another school, it would depend on your major. For impacted majors, its less likely they would accept you at this point.

Thanks guys I am seeing what I can do. How does one get a late start with another Uni? I would honestly prefer UCLA or UCI or USC. I should have never chosen Berkeley to be honest, It’s too far and I already feel nervous about it. Good thing is I know it would be late for housing and I have a place to stay in the general area.

I don’t know how likely it is that any if those schools would still admit you at this late date, but calling the admissions office is your best option. If you have contact info for an advisor or someone in your department, you may want to reach out to them as well.

Truth be told, if you failed a course (you mean there’s an F on your most recent transcript?) and you went from 3.5 to 3.0 you probably will not get in to any of them. Best course I would think at this late date is to try and salvage UCB. Sorry to be honest, but the F is not good.

Oh no that was for a semester I had a 3.0 my overall GPA is about 3.5-3.6 and I am retaking the course, unfortunately this still seems to not be satisfying the university.

So I just want to update this in case someone finds themselves in the same situation:

UCB cancelled

Contacted other UC’s

All politely said I could apply for Spring (UCI)

Appeal, but unlikely (UCSD)

Or no chance (UCLA)

USC, probably because it’s private, did accept me and I am now attending.

But essentially, by the time you are cancelled at a UC it’s too late for other UC’s sadly.

USC is a great school, so I’m glad it kind of worked out. I’m honestly surprised Cal rescinded you with a 3.0, because my conditions stated I only needed a 3.0…you must be in a competitive major? @ocnative did your conditions of admission say you needed a 3.0 for a 3.5 the final term?

Nah, I only needed a 3.0 also for the semester and overall. I think he was rescinded from Cal because he mentioned that he didn’t pass a class, i.e. a D or F on the transcript.
