Cancelling NYU Housing - deposit returned?

<p>Does anyone know if we get our housing deposit back if we decide to live off campus? I'm going to be a freshman if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance if anyone knows what I should do.</p>

<p>The deadline is on the 21st, so if you tell them by then you get the 1,000 back.</p>

<p>From an e-mail I got from the Housing Department today:</p>

<p>Please be reminded that the deadline date for canceling NYU housing for the 2006-2007 academic year
is Friday - JULY 21, 2006.</p>

<p>The University Housing Office must receive a written cancellation notice by Friday, July 21, 2006.</p>

<p>IF THE CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE:</p>

<p>? New students (graduate and undergraduate) will be refunded the $1000 reservation deposit.</p>

<p>? Returning undergraduate students will be refunded the second $500 reservation fee, but will not be
refunded the $500 non refundable non transferable application fee (paid in February).</p>

<p>Cancellation forms are available in pdf format on line <a href="http://www.nyu.edu/housing/applications/forms%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.nyu.edu/housing/applications/forms&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>Completed forms may be faxed to the University Housing Office, 212-995-4099, or mailed to:
Department of University Housing, 383 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10003.</p>

<p>You may email us at <a href="mailto:housing@nyu.edu">housing@nyu.edu</a>. Be sure the subject heading of the email reads ?2006 HOUSING
CANCELLATION?. Include your Name and University ID number in your email.</p>

<p>Email cancellations will only be accepted if they are sent from your NYUHome account. Your Net ID
serves as a signature authorizing us to cancel your housing.</p>

<p>REMEMBER: The housing license is a financial commitment for both the fall and spring terms unless the
reservation is canceled by July 21, 2006.</p>
