Cancelling?

My mom told me to put down yes for "Are you planning to apply for need-based aid" on the commonapp, but now after ive already submitted shes saying that its gonna drastically affect my chances (cuz im international) Is there any way to cancel this? Will the colleges look at me as if I didnt apply for aid if I dont file in the css profile and stuff? I tried sending them emails but they havent responded... any help? :(

Is your mom saying that your family can afford to be full pay? If so, I’d contact the colleges and let them know.
I believe internationals have to provide full financial documentation such as bank statements to prove they have enough money to attend.

First, check the admissions/FA policies of the schools you applied to - many schools are need-aware for international admissions, but some are not. In any case, the CSS Profile should be filed if you want to be considered for aid (and if you need aid in order to attend, it’s kind of silly to say you don’t) and there’s a question on it regarding how much your family can afford to pay each year. If your need is small, colleges will see this.

If you can’t demonstrate that you can pay for your education, you will not get a student visa even if you have been admitted to a college or university here. So unless your mom has enough savings and income to pay for your education, you may need some scholarship money from the college or university.

Sit down with her, and ask her to tell you just exactly how much money is available.
