Candidate Weekend

I'm going this weekend (February 10th-11th)

Anyone else going this weekend??

I'm going. It sounds like fun. They've got quite a bit going on this weekend.

Check out rugby at noon on Saturday at Farragut Field.

The candidate weekends are great; that is what helped convince me to accept my appointment last week. Have a nice time.

No can do, I'll be at the Lacrosse game

Yeah, CVW was awesome, I went on Jan. 27-28. But, something that through me off was that you choose your mid, you aren't assigned. I don't know if anybody else knew that, but I had no idea. Otherwise, just be outgoing and get all your questions answered (and do SMT).

navy invitational swim meet on saturday! come come all ye drags.

hbc025 what is SMT? (excuse me for my ignorance).

Also, does anybody know what types of clothes I should bring, like khakis or jeans?

SMT=Saturday Morning Training. Generally some form of military training -- could be PT, could be a lecture or briefing. Sometimes its a "field trip" such as to the museums in DC. SMT is managed at the Company level, so the upperclass plan the activities.

wear khakis, nice dress pants. bring a pair of jeans, but odds are you won't wear them except to like sporting events.

Yeah, I wore a polo and khakis on my visit. For our SMT we jogged 3 miles over the Severn to the Naval Station and learned fire squad tactical manuevers. Then we jogged back. Make sure to bring sweatpants AND a sweatshirt and athletic gear (running shoes, shorts etc.). I didn't bring my sweatpants, and it was about thirty degrees when we started the run. Thankfully, my mid's roomate lent me a pair.

Thank you. This is very helpful.

hm...very cool....

going march 24-25, anyone else?

for girls, would you wear like, a pants suit? or...

I wore nice pants and a jeans jacket with a collared shirt underneath (as a girl...). Some guys were wearing ties, but not a whole lot.

aviationgirl - I'm going the 24th

thanks marmadillo! what kind of shoes did you wear? i really dont think heels would be appropriate, i guess i need to find a nice pair of shoes....ugh, shoe shopping can be such a hassle sometimes....

see ya there Swillz!

i'm a girl, and i wore khakis with a nice shirt on the first day, jeans the second day. for shoes i just wore the nice kind of sneakers (the non-athletic kind). heels weren't really necessary. have fun! mine was great...sliding on mattresses down the hall at midnight is wicked awesome!

cooolll.....man, i think i need to get a nicer pair of khakis. the ones i have are both cords...one's ok i guess...but the other one is destroyed a little....

thanks for the shoes help, boston usmc....i guess some black pumas or something? i'll figure something out...I"M STOKED

are we supposed to bring a sleeping bag or blanket?? anyone going this friday (feb 24)?

i used a mattress pulled from another room and sheets that my mid had. a lot of people got cots though. right before mine, everyone going on the CVW got this mass e-mail with the sole purpose of telling us to bring pillows.
