Candidate Weekend

ok thank you. i have only gotten a confirmation letter and map from admissions.

I had a cot and just borrowed sheets from my mid also. I used my duffel as a pillow (might not have been the best idea...) Make sure you do SMT!

And post your pics on the picture thread.

Um...I cancelled mine 2 times already due to some ups and downs in my app process let's say, and I feel bad asking for a third arragement. I think I have a good grip on what midn life is like anyway, and missing a day with loaded classes in college can be a big bummer.

I just got my letter for the April visit. I need to see if we're doing any FTXs on the selected weekends, then I'll make a decision...but i'm definitely going. Anyone else?

Spider's going the first weekend in April. His real name is Philip....5'8", short brown hair, dark brown eyes. Doesn't talk much. :)

ok...so I'm getting everything set for my visit in April...but I have one question.

I'm taking the Super Shuttle to my hotel on Thursday, and having them pick me up from the Yard on Saturday. Where should I tell them to pick me up from? I'm guess it should be one of the gates as I doubt they're allowed on campus...but which one?

Gate 1 would probably be the best. Most shuttles and taxis utilize that gate.

The corner outside Gate 1 was the routine pickup point for Super Shuttles last October.

Thanks. Did the Academy send you any additional info such as where to report on Friday after you confirmed that you were attending? The invite letter just says 0900 is when it starts

Rickover Hall (closest to gate 3), preferrably by 0830.

I'm going the 21-22 April. Anyone else going that weekend??

Is anyone going the weekend of the 24th?

April 21-22, what a great weekend on the Yard! Friday night is the spring Blue/Gold football game, Saturday is lacrosse versus Johns Hopkins and Sunday is a double header versus Army at Camden Yard in Baltimore. A great weekend in Navy sports. Hope you can take some of that in.

I'm going on the 24th. I'm really excited. It's right on my 18th birthday--awesome present!!!

24th of March?

Yes, March 24th.

I just got back from my CVW. Anybody else out there go to it? Did you go to the Plebe Dance? I wonder if I crossed paths with any of you...

Is it worth the trip and expense, even if I am already definately going to Navy?

YES...YES...YES...YES...YES...and once more...

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

You get a completely different aspect than NASS. It's awesome.

The visit is what convinced me and made me see the light. If you've never been to USNA it is a great thing to go to. Period. If you've only gone to NASS but are not convinced yet, then go anyways because the academic year is completely different than the summer. If you're definitely going, then in my opinion I would consider the expense of flying out there but also realize that the visit is not necessary, only used to confirm your decision. Just my opinion.
