I am so glad that I live in Alaska where there are a handful of candidates to USNA each year. Air Force is much more popular as we have one of the biggest AFB in the country up here. All the nom packets are due Dec. 15th and the list of noms goes out beginning of the New Year, so my appointment should be coming very soon after that. YEAH!

usnagirl & trackattack2b12: I think that Arlen Specter has probably notified all of his nominees. My son received one of Senator Specter's nominations. He got a letter from the Senator on Monday. The letter said that my son's name, along with 19 others, had been submitted to fill his vacancies at the Naval Academy. ... guess he has 2 openings at USNA...

Yep, a young lady in our town was notified of her nom also within the last week or so from Commrade Specter.

how soon after you get a nomination (and are triple q'd) should you find out about an appointment? i got my nom last thursday, showed up in CIS on friday.

RRRrrr...That really sucks because I haven't heard either a yes or no and I can't get a nomination from my congressman since he had no vacancies.

Hopefully, you get your nomination from Senator Casey. I heard (I really don't remember where though) that he has 2 vacancies at the Naval Academy also. So that would be 20 nominations from him also. Good luck!

Mill Valley, California, the same district as Sonoma and Napa Valley.

Omaha, NE
LOA, just got my colorvision waiver approved and waiting on nomination

Sigh...I just got a letter from Arlen Specter saying that I indeed did not get a nomination from him. Please God, Bob Casey!!

Central Texas, about an hour north of Austin.

This year I've got LOA's to USNA and USMA. USNA is far and away my top choice. I have a medical waiver from USMA, haven't heard anything on that front from USNA.

No word on nominations yet, although I was rejected for Senator Cornyn's slate. Last year I received the phone call from Congressman Carter on 17 Dec, so hopefully in the next week or so I should be hearing good news from him again.

One of the local West Point contacts told me that Carter has two slots open to USMA. I didn't ask about USNA, but I listed USNA as my #1 choice with USMA second. Getting both would be cool 8-)

you applied last year? are you going to civ college this year?

can't edit my post but I just got the call from my Congressman letting me know that I got nominated. Im so pumped. Now ive just got to wait for the Appointment letter

Congratulations!

Is anybody else from KY out there? Has anyone been invited for Senator interviews?

I'm Colton, from Molino, Florida.

I just got my Nomination from Senator Nelson.

I've got to clear some things up with the CRC before they can move forward with my application.

Has anyone had to do this too?

What's the CRC?

Hershey,
Yeap. Had a full-ride offer to VMI and then a med DQ. I'm getting my Associate's Degree in Mathematics in May from the local community college here. Obviously not my top choice, but it's worked out well. I was planning on going to Greystone prep school, but through a maze of events, I ended up staying home. I'm sure you can find pages and pages of stuff about Greystone to guess my reasons for staying here ;)

from Evergreen, CO., west of Denver. son has Congressional nomination. waiting on DODMERB and hoping for a color vision waiver...

Character Review Committee

what does the CRC entail? I have not even heard of it before...when is the CRC involved in the USNA application process?
