The Character Review Committee gets involved in the admissions process if a candidate has any infractions with the law, has been suspended / expelled from school, is or has been on probabtion, etc. The CRC will be investigating the seriousness of any character issues and will also want to know if the candidate learned anything from their failure to use good judgement.

My daughter just received her appointment in the mail this week. Complete surprise! She must have gotten in on a presidential nomination. She had just retaken the CFA a few days before. I guess she didn't really need to! We are from N.C.

Just received my Congressional Nomination today!

Got my LOA back in October and waiting on a Vision Waiver to get medically qual'd.

My son received his nomination in November (our MOC doesn't give principal noms) and is triple qual'd. We are from Texas. Three of his classmates have received LOA's to the USMA, one to the USAFA, and two others are waiting to hear from USNA. I guess the other service academies give out LOA's more freely and earlier than the USNA. Best wishes to all.

I think they all give out the same number of LOA's which is around 100. From what I gather you must come from a very comp. area, I am tallying at least 7 kids in 1 h.s., and that just who your son knows. Wow.

No USMA gives out many more LOAs than Navy does...

USNA is much stricter with their LOAs than USMA and other Academies as jpr said. Only three USNA LOAs have been sent to my state. USMA will send an LOA with a partially complete application (like SATs and GPA).

How do you know how many have been sent to a particular state?

good question, mom3boys...i am never able to get this kind of info regarding USNA admission/nomination stats...

Well, at least one has been sent to Georgia = )

just from talking to friends and seeing what other people post online, it seems that USMA is much more generous with LOA's (can't talk for USAFA). i got an LOA from WP before my candidate statements were even submitted.

WW2buff-where are you from in Texas?
If anyone is from North Texas-Are you going to the Blue Chip Dinner Dec 18th? We have gone the last two years -2005 son was a candidate, 2006-son spoke to group as a plebe. This year daughter is candidate. The academy brings in great speakers and several people from Admissions.

mom3boys,

About two weeks after receiving my LOA I got a call from my Regional Director's boss (not sure what the title is) to congradulate me on receiving an LOA. It was then that she informed me that only 3 LOAs have been sent to my state.

sdnavymom1607,

We're from Central Texas. The dinner sounds like a great event. I assume those type of events are scheduled by the local or regional organizations.

ww2buff and sdnavymom,
I'll be sending you PM's.

mom,
I was there last year and I'll be there again this year.

ww2,
I believe it's an invite-only thing. I think last year they said around 50 kids are invited. You should be getting a letter soon. I remember last year it was kind of a last-minute thing, and for this year I only got the invitation a few days ago.

Son just received a nomination from our representative and was notified by his B&G officer that his LOA is on the way! We are from North Carolina.

Where? our rep hasn't done theirs yet...actually doing it this week, and Senator isn't until Jan

^^^^^^

We live in Durham; David Price is our representative. Seems like North Carolina is one of the later states to get theirs done. He is scheduled for an interview with Senator Burr in January.

c you there. We're in Goldsboro.

Excellent!
