how do you deal with them?

I ignore them until they go away. When I was in 2nd grade, I had sores in my mouth, the palms of my hands, and the palms of my feet. I couldn't eat, walk, or touch anything for a week. I got over it and so can you ;)

Swishing around Listerine and/or salt rinses will help numb the area of the sore for a time being (enough that you should be able to eat without it hurting). Orabase (Colgate brand) is good for before you go to sleep.

dammit those suck.

There are a lot of numbing creams you can use in your mouth. Also, try switching to Rembrandt toothpaste (it doesn't foam and helps prevent canker sores). And don't drink lemonade! I get MAJOR canker sores....when I was in third grade I got one so bad I had to hold my mouth wide open constantly so that it wouldn't hurt.

Rembrandt makes a toothpaste called "Rembrandt toothpaste for canker sore sufferers" that has helped me a lot. My dentist recommended it and the pharmacist at Target had to order it. Most stores don't carry it and it's on the expensive side (I think about $6 a tube) but it's worth it.

have you ever heard of something called oraldine? i can't find it anywhere here in the states but they do have it in spain and my grandmother swears by it. maybe your state is superior than mine.

start getting them regularly when I lived in Asia....? Something in the food? Anyway: I have narrowed what causes them down to coffee, sugar, and stress, in that apparent order of likelihood to cause them. I do sometimes drink coffee still but try to rinse my mouth out with listerine right afterwards. Really what I should do is give up coffee. I'll forget it causes them, forget to rinse my mouth out and then deal with the pain of them for a few days, yet again.

That should read: I started getting them when I lived in Asia. Something in the food?

Taking a good multivitamin (especially with vitamin B), keeping my mouth clean and flossed well, avoiding coffee and rinsing at least a couple of times with Listerine is the stuff that has kept me during long stretches where I don't get them. And then I forget the coffee restriction...and here we go again.

I get those a lot, I bought Anbesol (over the counter benzocaine stuff) that you put on your canker sore. It numbs it and helps a TON.

Gargle with warm salt water.

Ack, I get canker sores too, a lot. Whenever I bite my lip, one forms, and they are extremely painful.

Before eating I dab on some numbing cream(ambesol I think). You should try to pinpoint why you get them. Although there is debate on this, some causes are trauma(such as biting the insides of your mouth), food allergies, and stress. Obviously my cause is the first.

It also helps to desensitize your canker sores with listerine. Either way, you should avoid salt(unless you are applying it to desensitize your sores, which is extremely painful), citrusy foods, and things with sharp edges, as they may exacerbate the problem.

I feel your pain :(

I only get them when I don't get enough sleep. My advice? Get like 10 hours of sleep tonight and 8 or 9 tomorrow, if at all possible. They should be much less annoying by then.

I feel for you, man. Those things hurt and are irritating as hell.

Powdered alum to make it go away faster, benzocaine or somethign similar to numb it and make life a bit more bearable in the meantime.

The other week, the grocery store had a big sale on grapefruits and oranges, so I bought a whole bunch. I never got to eat them because I woke up the next morning with a canker sore. Not fair. :( I used to get them all the time when I had braces, because the little knobby things would rub against the inside of my mouth, but I rarely get them anymore.

I had this numbing/disinfectant stuff to put on it....I completely forget what it was called but it came in a bottle shaped roughly like an eye drop bottle, and I originally had it because my orthodontist told me to put a bit of it on my toothbrush before I put the toothpaste on, to help clean the braces better, I guess. Anyway you were supposed to put it on, leave it on for a minute or two and then spit it out....it stung like all hell when you put it on but then it numbed it for a few hours. I'll need to get some more of that if it becomes a recurring problem.

find out what it's called lolol
