cannot decide between U Oregon and Penn State!

:/
I love University of Oregon. I toured it and was totally awed by how beautiful the campus is, how friendly everyone was, the immense school spirit, and the sense of family because of all these factors. plus, they have a top program on the west coast for journalism and sports business, my two areas of interest. The cost will probably be lower based on statistics and travel, (I'm in California) and living expenses.
However the drawbacks are that I'm not sure how reputable the U of O name is nationally yet (it's rather up and coming it seems) and a lot of people say there's no partying going on That's obviously not my sole priority in choosing a college, BUT I definitely want the option of going out and finding a fun party on the weekends.

On the other hand, Penn State is close to family, has a top notch journalism program and connections, and lots of school spirit and not to mention major social-nightlife. However the cost seems to be more, and travel expenses to Pennsylvania and Los Angeles are relatively more expensive, and living at Penn State costs more (after freshman year, like apartments ect.) plus it's cold and snowy, BUT they have great connections for after college.

so anyone who has any insight into either school PLEASE do not hesitate to add anything :)

Journalism tends not to lead to high pay after graduation, so consider carefully how much debt you will take on at each option.

Choose University of Oregon, Eugene is a great college town and does have opportunities for night life and partying. The weather there is great if you love rain, and the average snowfall is about twice per year, and not much snow. I would say UO because of the fantastic climate, people, and Eugene isn’t far from Portland. Not to mention, it is cheaper. And leaving college with an excessive amount of debt is never good. Go Ducks!

Not having been to either school, seeing that you are interested in Sports Business would have me lean quite a bit toward Oregon. Nike is nothing to sneeze at. Not to mention I’m sure you’ll find some sort of party atmosphere at any large, D1 school.

Given that the deposit deadline was May 1, further discussion seems pointless.

My bad, I should have looked at the post before OregonBound’s.
