They seem to have everything I am looking for: Journalism (my #1 major, Im in the school paper, I love writing, etc), and Business (I'm somewhat of a math nerd, statistics, and I'm into communications kind of, too), and my friend says the campus is good, it's only a mile or so from the train station, etc. Everything seems great. I'm looking to visit soon, but I was just wondering a little more about the college life. I know it's a very liberal college, nice surroundings, etc...anything you guys can add, even if you don't go there? Dorms? Food? Parties? The town of Eugene itself? Campus? Etc....thanks! I should get in, I have a 3.1 with a 30 on my ACT. Haha hopefully I can get some financial aid, though....

try campusdirt.com

thanks, that's a pretty cool sight, I didnt know about it.

Pirate, I'm interested in U of O too. I'm going up there soon, so I'll tell you how it is after I get back.

They currently hold the title for Ugliest football uniforms. They are a far cry from the old school style of Penn State!

haha hey, I don't think their football uniforms are ugly..theyre pretty sweet actually. I do like the classic thing that penn state has got goin on, though.

Worried--yeah, I should visit there for spring break...could be before then, though.

I don't get why people criticize Oregon's uniform.

I think it's innovative.

The dark green ones are sweet looking, but some, such as the neon yellow are just plain hideous. These "uniforms" are an oxymoron, they are not very uniform. They have 384 different combinations. Give me Ohio State's unis or Notre Dame's any day of the week.

Of course, there's tradition to consider when looking at a uniform.

However, I just think Oregon's uniform is great in terms of design.

The futuristic style is neat.

In short, I love both forms of uniforms because one maintains rich tradition while the other attempts to move forward.

I've never heard such intellectual conversations about football uniforms.

if you enjoy intellectual (okay, not always intellectual) conversation about uniforms, check out www.uniwatchblog.com the guy running it creates a daily blog that usually focuses on a few uniforms and/or their mishaps and readers can comment and chat about what they like, don't like, etc. Can be hilarious reading at times....but most of us on the site are OCD uniform buffs about almost every sport and nit-pic when someone's fly isn't zipped, logo creep (ahem, Nike pasting their logo everywhere), history of uniforms, unnecessary changes to traditional uniforms (like Nike creating the SAME design for so many college teams), etc etc etc. I could go on for days. But today is not a day for the young ones out there, since the main topic is streaking ;) . Sorry to highjack the thread, have done this twice today.

BTW, UOregon is a good school. Looked into it for sports marketing but chose not to attend for financial and program reasons. Also seems way too liberal for me.

U of O is situated in Eugene, which is in the lower Willamette Valley of Oregon. Eugene has the advantages of being a small city, including an airport and a lot of shopping (a mall, Costco, a very nice Trader Joes). The people tend to be very environmentally friendly/conscious and crazy about the Ducks. And, yes, politically it is very liberal - as are most cities in the Pacific Northwest.
I have known many people who studied at U of O and they loved it. The campus is nice - not too big or small.

Aren't pretty much all schools, save for like Auburn, Miami (OH) pretty much liberal. I would venture to say 90% of schools are liberal.

It's one thing to say that a college is liberal, but UO is centered in EUGENE. That's pretty much enough said (for those of us who live here). There's a very open feel to the city, and the area around campus has some good stuff. We've got a great public transportation system, and Eugene is overall very UO-centric.

Aside from the campus and directly college-related things, the Eugene area is gorgeous and has tons of stuff going on all the time - art, theater, various festivals...and it doesn't rain as much there as in the rest of Oregon, either!
