Can't choose between these topics...

So I got started on my college essay and I can't decide between two topics. I plan to go with the topic about an environment where I feel most content...

I can write about my school's technology wing and how it got me into computers and technology and how it inspired me to look into computer science. I have had several experiences there besides classes, such as clubs and volunteer work and awards, but I'm afraid that it might be too much of a repetition of my ECs.

Since I am a Muslim I could also write about my environment during the Muslim month of Ramadan. I could discuss how Ramadan may be tough due to fasting from sunrise to sunset, yet it keeps me content because it teaches me tolerance, the importance of family, and being grateful for everyday necessities. But idk because I heard that religion can be a controversial topic in college essays. But I don't feel like I'm really bringing up anything technical about religion; I'm only talking about how it affects me personally.

Please helpppp :-S

I think the second one will be more interesting if done right (make sure it doesn’t sound cliche).

@pmmywest‌ thanks! What I wanted to do was write about a typical day of Ramadan and how I cope with it. I want to show how I may be starving all day but I innately feel content and relaxed, how my mind is at ease even when my stomach may be growling, something like that lol

I like the second topic, since it relates to your culture, family, and experiences.

As a person not used to the Islamic culture, the second one sounds really interesting, actually; if you can make it personal, I think it’s a great topic!

@Belizeme‌ thanks for the advice!
@LifeAsIKnowIt‌ thank you so much! I really needed to hear that from someone who isn’t used to my religious culture and beliefs.

So I guess I will go with the second option :)
