Can't concentrate because my family members continue to cling and pester me

I seriously can't concentrate and working on my freaking school work. My parents are always yelling and my brother always keeps talking to me about stupid things like what thing or person he killed in his computer game or what other food he can binge and get fat from and when I tell them to be quiet, they get overly defensive and retaliate. No matter where I go in the house, someone will always come and pester me; my parents to pick a fight with me and my brother to annoy me. *** do I do? I'm seriously ****ed and can't concentrate on reading my AP World History because now they got me really angry. It just got quiet again but some idiot's going to just start something in 10 minutes or so. Suggestions please.

Calm down, and maybe they will follow suit.

Go to the library

Yeah I’ve been pretty much calm and patient and basically putting up with these fools without saying anything to them until now. As I already said, even as I seclude myself away from them, they even make noises amongst each other and yell really loud. There’s practically nowhere in the house or outside like the library where i can go.

what are you guys reading about in ap world right now

Wow, are they human?

^ I don’t know!! Ugh my head is exploding more from anger than from when I read Bulfinch’s Mythology.

^^ Harappan Society, Aryans, Dravidians **** it’s boring topics that require super concentration too

oh cool, foundations stuff. i thoroughly enjoyed ap world

Enslave em all.

I had this same problem the last 2 years.

^ what did you do? what grades did you get?

Study in the bathroom.

Headphones?

invest in a pair of bose headpones

Go to the park or your backyard

story of my life.

I’ve had this problem my whole life. It got a bit better after my mom’s second boyfriend, but not much.

What I actually used to do was clean every single thing. I would clean the house spotless, and then they’d seem even more unreasonable to argue with me. That didn’t always work though, because they would still go at me sometimes. I got in to some weird sleep schedules where I would go to bed extremely early, after cleaning (more likely I’m actually left alone to sleep), and wake up at like 3 am to do the homework.

Now I can just go where I want, and usually am only home during the times I watch my niece, so it worked out.

If your family is more reasonable, perhaps you should try to talk to them. Explain your situation, and the rigor of your classes. Explain that you need at least x many hours of non-interrupted quiet to study, though make it clear they can check in on you, silently, to see you are actually studying. Say you need a good GPA this year to get finalized for your colleges, and that you need to go to college so you can take care of them when they are old  Crack a few jokes like that, so it doesn’t seem like you are just accusing them. Make some compromises if need be, that in exchange for the quiet, you’ll cook dinner or vacuum living room.

This is a right, not a privilege.

Headphones, music?
