So I'm going to be a senior this year and I would like to prepare for the college application process. I have a couple of schools in mind already, but I was wondering, ignoring whether I can get in, the difference between Tufts and Carnegie Mellon in terms of their architecture and engineering programs. I would like to ED to one and I would like to factor in my interest for possible majors. Help?
P.S. All advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I haven’t seen Tufts, but I have seen CMU. It looks like a traditional eastern campus with a yard surrounded by university buildings and crossed by sidewalks and terraces. You can see this online. The main/older buildings are three or four floors, usually a strange yellow brick, not my color and not a traditional New England or even PA color. There are some modern and postmodern buildings as well, some of them classroom buildings. The Gates foundation just put up a new compsci center that I didn’t see completed, so check that out. CMU is located on a neighborhood hillside of Pittsburgh called Oakland that is residential urban in a row house/townhouse mix. Everything in the city is easily accessible by bus, and it is a great city for exploring, museums, professional and college sports, boating, etc. CMU’s computer engineering is first-rate, as is their compsci. Almost certainly better in both fields than Tufts. CMU lacks Tufts’ strengths in the social sciences, but makes up for it with a surprisingly strong fine arts program in what is basically a STEM school.

Thanks! This helped a bunch!
