I'm currently stuck between Ithaca College or University of Vermont..at Ithaca I'm enrolled in the Park school of communications, which I am interested in, but not 100% sure if that's what I want to be doing..I am also interested in engineering and technology and since Ithaca virtually lacks any engineering, I am slightly leaning towards Vermont. Should I take the chance at Ithaca that I will find my niche in the Park school or should I go to Vermont where I have more options with my major? I got more money from Ithaca btw.

hmm i say vermont bc if you change your mind, then thats that at Ithaca

yeah…although i might end up majoring in computer science which is actually offered at both ithaca and uvm…ughh.

anyone?..

I got more money from Ithaca btw.

So, is Ithaca cheaper now? Or did Ithaca have a higher COA to begin with?

If Ithaca is cheaper because of a scholarship then you should start there. If you don’t like it, then you can transfer to Vermont. You wouldn’t be able to do it the other way around. If you were to start at Vermont, if you tried to transfer to Ithaca, you wouldn’t get the scholarship offer.

How much does it cost for you to attend each school?

ithaca would be about 26000 and vermont around 30.

Ithaca, but I wouldn’t pay that much for either of those schools unless mom or dad can easily foot the bill.

well all the other schools i got in to aren’t much cheaper…ecept binghamton, which i realy did not like…

Binghamton is a great school I would go there easily, especially if it was cheaper.

i know it is a great school, but i went and didn’t really impress me…campus seemed dead, and the town of binghamton wasn’t exactly impressive…unlike burlington and ithaca…

yeah but academically speaking it is as good an option as the other 2 for less cost, but hey its your parents money or your loan money…If it was Cornell or NYU then I would reconsider, but not for Ithaca or Vermont.

anyone else?

Since you seem very undecided about your major, I would say choose UVM since it offers more options (assuming the extra $4000 a year is not problematic for your family). I also think that Burlington is a great college town with lots of social options for students.

none of the above posters is addressing the Park School issue; given your uncertainty, I’m actually surprised you were admitted; they seem to really want kids who want them…and demonstrate their involvement in media and communications.

If you actually wanted communications, Park offers quite alot of opportunities…and is well regarded in the industry

But, given that you say that you are not sure (and that is fine), Vermont is probably your better option (if you just can’t stand Binghamton–which has the best academics of the three)…

yeah, what i really love about uvm and ithaca is the college town atmosphere, binghamton kinda lacks that imo…

btw, another perk of ithaca and uvm over binghamton is that i’m in the honors college at both…
