I recently applied to the University Of West Georgia for the spring semester and am expecting to receive a decision in another week. Should I be accepted I would have to pay a $250 housing deposit in order to secure my housing on campus. there is no other way around living off campus because all freshman are required to live on campus. At this point in time even if I get accepted it would all be for nothing as I'm currently unemployed and don't have the $250 needed for the deposit.West Georgia has not given me any hint on other options besides having to pay out of pocket. I was wondering is their any other options I can go about to solve this issue seeing that I am not able to pay the deposit out of pocket?

You should call rheir FAid office and ask them your Qs. They are trained to help you. How are you planning to pay to attend school? Is there any amount the U expects you and your family to pay? Usually, many Us do expect some student and family contribution and that could be used for your housing deposit.

How are you planning to pay the rest of your costs of attending this school?

If you get accepted, call them. If you are a very low income family, they might have a way for you to deal with this.

In the meantime…get some babysitting jobs lined up.

You can also shovel snow, do yard work, get part time job, teach people to use computer, help with webpages, etc. start now, as you will need money no matter where you go.

well guys Im planning to look for work while attending the school and have the financial aid Im receiving pay for the tuition and fees. as far as looking for work now I havent been very succesful in finding anything over the past few months.

If you’re a Pell student then sometimes schools will waive deposits so ask.

As for finding a job…It is the Christmas season, while it may be too late to find a seasonal job now, you should still try.
