We live in a world that values action over thought. The idea of taking time to reflect and think things through is out of favor. Our most popular movies and novels focus on action, not reflection, and our most admired public figures are praised for what they do, not for what they think. While there is something to be said for taking action instinctively and without hesitation, the fact is that people put too much emphasis on action.

Assignment:

Is it a mistake to value action over thought? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

i cant think of any examples for this essay please help!!
Thanks in advance

Before you even consider thinking of examples, how about determining the overall answer to the question?

Tell me:

IS it a mistake to value action over thought?

I think that both thoughts and actions are equally important. i only have one example of george zimmerman on how he acted without thinking

DO NOT use George Zimmerman. Race is a very sensitive subject and may offend the grader.

I thought that the readers were supposed to be unbiased during the grading procedure.

It’s unlikely that an individual would get offended by a student offering an objective analysis of the topic unless said individual was ignorant of the student’s intention–that is, to answer the essay question with clearly supported evidence.

**

It’s probably best to take a stand, but you can “qualify” your answer like this if you do it skillfully.

There’s nothing wrong with writing about the Zimmerman situation or other current events IF you can say something new and not just retell what happened.

As for your question about other examples, without thinking much about it I’d say that Hamlet would count.
