^Yeah, I mean…I am sheltered and from the burbs, but I’ve gone into the DC a good amount of times, and if you are fine…I mean, assuming you will be where the more tourist-y stuff is. Really, the metro is safe…

You will be fine in DC, don’t listen to these ignorant fear-mongering people.

Just watch your back and be street smart and aware and you’ll be fine.

The main point is, you have no business being in any of the “bad” areas of DC anyway, it’s not like there are people running around with AKs on the Mall. There are sooooooooooooo many tourists in the area this time of year, many of which don’t even speak english…you will be the last target of the pickpocketers.

The first time I’ve taken public transportation in years (I wish I could take it more often), a guy jumped on the tracks and suicided. It was three days before Christmas.

The train was delayed for an hour and it was a little appalling how people were getting so annoyed about the sudden suicide. I was worried about the guy’s family :/

Even if he was taking public transportation, he’d be fine. It’s not like an adult is better protected than he is. He’s old enough to be independent.

I found my way back to hotels in both Washington DC and NYC when I was 10. Common sense ftw!

On thus Bus right now…

Lol

I’m sure I’d been to Baltimore many, many times before I first read that poem at 7, but I’ve always wondered if it was the reason I have no taste for the city.

^Baltimore can be cool. Granted, I’ve really only been to Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor. It has a very cool aquarium! It’s nice to walk in when the weather is warm and sunny.

^It does have a very cool aquarium. And the Barnes and Noble there is HUGE. There are other nice things. Good restaurants. It’s okay. It’s also fun to denigrate though, for some reason. Smells fishy. Maybe that’s it.

Half an hour away from the D.C city. :D

Millancad: Haha, we read that poem in AP Lit. And yes, Baltimore is fun to denigrate. But it’s still a fun city. DC is better, though.

HopefulEagle86: You picked a bad time to come to DC, lol. It’s cold and gray. And the cherry blossoms aren’t in full bloom yet.

I may be planning a trip like this. Except we’d be driving. ROADTRIP!

Baltimoron: Uh not really, as soon as I got off the bus, the weather was pretty warm. Plus, Cherry Blossom starts next week.

I’m in the Griffin Hall near GWU for a week, and I’m going to see if I can go to an open tour for Georgetown tomorrow.

Btw, I’m on the 8th floor. The wind is blowing boisterously like heck from the outside.

Oh, well out here in the suburbs it was cold and gray. Cherry Blossom Festival started yesterday.

There’s another one next week.
But I don’t think I will have a chance to. Cause I requested to leave on Friday. I have other stupid projects I need to do.

^It’s all one big, long festival. Haha, that sounded dirty. But the peak bloom period for this year is April 1-4 (I think).

I think I can go to the peak bloom period. It’s like on Tuesday or something.

No, you won’t be able to go. Did you read what I just said? Lol.

Lucky person travelling! I wish I could take a vacation but I have some pet issues and money issues to take care of and my sister would kill me if I left her cat alone at this point! Have fun in DC! It’s a lovely city/whatever you want to call it.
